Race promoters John Maggard and Merle Hacker have been avid outdoor enthusiasts and endurance athletes for over two decades. Growing up in the small eastern Kentucky town of Hyden, these two became best friends who seek out adventure in all walks of life. Whether it’s trail running, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting, or swimming in alpine lakes, these two have dabbled with a bit of everything.

After experiencing racing and events from all over the US, the Trail Sick brand was created in late 2018 and the War Daddy mountain bike race kicked over their first event in 2019. After embarking on hundreds of races, the Trail Sick Crew knows what it takes to host an epic event. The mission for this crew is to provide the most memorable experiences while pushing your body to its limits, filling your body with delicious foods, and providing you with the best after race entertainment out there.

If you’ve raced a Trail Sick event in the past, then you know this is not your ordinary group of promoters. John and Merle are backed by one of the most kick ass crews you will ever meet! They bring you in and treat you like family, like you’re part of their crew, and this humble group of characters genuinely do care that you are there in their neck of the woods making amazing memories with them.
